Canterbury Whitewater Club

The ultimate way to experience the outdoors

The ultimate outdoor experience

About us

Canterbury's largest whitewater club

The Canterbury Whitewater Club paddles on South Island rivers most weekends September through June, with trips ranging from grades 2 to 4.  We also run two comprehensive beginner courses each spring.

We are one of the largest whitewater clubs in New Zealand, with a membership of about 250.  Formed around 1980 as the Whitewater Canoe Club, we more recently changed our name to the Canterbury Whitewater Club to reflect our support for a wide range of whitewater river craft.

The club is a member of Whitewater New Zealand (the national association) whitewater.nz, and the club advocates for river access and river and wilderness conservation so that we can continue our enjoyment of the rivers we paddle.

We are a registered Incorporated Society and have a constitution which governs what we do, what members can expect and what is expected of them. The club is managed by a committee that is elected annually.
